Birthday party?? I wanna say no...

9th July is my born date,but i'm not celebrating that day. Back then in my life, it was a special day for me. Waiting my frens to wish "Happy Borthday!!!!", got surprises, presents and bla bla bla....

Now, that date will only become a common date. Neutral. Nothing to happy about. What i feel when it comes every year is...my age is reduced already. Time to stand in front of our ultimate Lord, Allah...become closer. To think about that, How can I celebrate that day happily? How can I keep smiling and laughing all day? O Allah...guide us through the right path. Don't punish us with Your severe punishment...as for all those sins we commit with, forgive us O Allah..
We ask forgiveness from Allah and He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love (towards the pious who are real true believers of Islamic Monotheism) (85:14)

And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse etc.) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allah - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know. 3:135

Why we are not encouraged to celebrate birthday?

I agreed with one article of my friend regarding to this topic http://firaszahrafajar.blogspot.com/2011/06/rupa-rupanya-hari-lahir-ada-dalam-injil_06.html.

People will raise these questions:
#we're just celebrating his/her day, is there any problem with that?
#we are not committing with ma'siat or faasihah, so we think its ok...

Thats the statement we heard from people. Yeah, there is no ma'siat they're committing with, but this issue actually related to 'aqidah of Muslims.

In Islam, there is no special date to celebrate anything except eid-fitri and eid-adha. Any other dates except both eids, we need to check about that. As for birthday, its existed in Kitab Injil (Bible), which was revealed to the prophet Isa (Jesus), to his community. Unfortunately, the bible was misused by his community by changing the contents and rules in the bible. For more information, I suggested to visit and read about this at this page.. http://firaszahrafajar.blogspot.com/2011/06/rupa-rupanya-hari-lahir-ada-dalam-injil_06.html

Naturally, as fitrah,all humans in this world will feel happy if they receive surprise presents or gifts from their close and beloved one. Thats the fitrah. Its a nature. Plus ++++, its a sunnah. How special right? :) And Islam is not that rigid to forbid all celebrations to celebrate. Do celebrate what you wanted to, but no specific day. For me, mothers day, fathers day, friends day....its every day. Every day I wannna make people happy with my absence. Every day I wanna put smile on their faces. We try not to imitate or adapt western culture in Islamic lifestyle. Let them adapt us as Muslims. We have our own entity with Islam. We should proud to be Muslims. Allahu akbar! Subhanallah..

The prophet never celebrate his own birthday and we never heard the hadith, sunnah, or athar regarding to this issue? So who we are following now, while our only sources only Quran and Sunnah...In one hadith from Rasulullah, he said;

مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

ًwhoever imitates a nation is one of them.

( HR. Ahmad dan Abu Daud dari Ibnu Umar)

I'm proud to be a Muslim. So do you? :)

Faqeerah ilallah..
